POLY JOKE BEACH POPPIES
For this painting commission, Poly Joke Beach was a special place in the life of the collector that she wanted as a gift to celebrate her 40th birthday. Erin wanted it captured in vibrant colour and texture in a similar to style to my ‘Wild & Free’ oil painting.
One of my favourite things about Cornwall art commissions is the opportunity to visit the place and soak up as much inspiration as I can for the painting. The poppies were glowing and the sea glistened so brightly. Fortunately I managed to only just miss the heavens opening as a quick incoming rain cloud came in from the sea. But it did make the sunset even the more spectacular.
After chatting through all that she wanted for her painting from the colours to the framing, I drew up some quick sketches for Erin to see, and from there began the process of bringing her favoruite place to life
