Meet Rachel

Rachel Painter is a contemporary landscape artist working primarily in oils. Her work tells a story of discovery and wonder into the unexplored. Trading footsteps for spirited brushstrokes, slabs of oil paint and washes of luminous colour she transforms these landscapes into melodies of colour and texture that sing into the void ahead. Like a gateway, Rachel see’s her vibrant paintings as invitations to step into more beauty and confidence, a song to fill the ‘to-be-written’ parts of your story.

With the ambition of always becoming an artist she initially used her passion for creativity to work within communities realising it as a force for good. Having set up community projects, murals and weekly creative workshops for 6 years she felt the call to return to her own painting in late 2018.

Since she has become a full-time artist with work held in private collections in the UK and abroad. She was also selected by leading art critic of the Financial Times, William Packer, an Honoury Fellow of the RCA for ‘Green & Stone Of Chelsea’ Summer exhibition.

Standing in front of a wide-open landscape, beneath a dramatic sky confronted by the echoing vastness of what stands before you reminds me there’s a force surrounding me greater than myself- there’s something enthralling and humbling about it, it draws me to try and capture that sense of stepping into it again and again, making the unknown known.
