Commission A Painting

Commissioning a piece of art is a unique experience. Perhaps there is a special place to you, a significant other or family member? A honeymoon location or memorable holiday? Maybe there are flowers or a certain view that holds a deep meaning for you. Either way I’d love to help bring your artwork to life.

Working with Rachel was a dream; she was incredibly professional, courteous and clearly passionate about the project from the get go. I commissioned an individual piece of art, of a place in Cornwall close to my heart, and not only was I able to see the piece as it progressed but I was also encouraged to give feedback if I wanted to. It was an involved process and I am thrilled with the result, which now hangs proudly in our London living room. The customer service was excellent from beginning to end. I would highly recommend Rachel for beautiful original art.

So Let’s Paint Yours…

How To Commission A Painting

1) First Things First…

The process begins with an informal chat about size, colours, budget, typically over email. I use images & colour palettes that you choose from my previous works as a spring board for your unique painting commission.

I’ll need to determine from you:

  • Painting size - and orientation (horizontal, vertical or square)

  • 1-3 reference photos ** (if you have them) or we can discuss travel to a location for me to draw direct inspiration from

  • 2-5 Rachel Painter paintings - Please provide links to your favourite paintings that you’d like your commissioned painting to be inspired by

  • Your time frame - do you have a date you want your artwork by?

  • Colours that you love (and colours you want me to avoid if necessary)

  • Framing - will you want your piece framed? I offer some framing options > so displaying your new piece is a breeze!

2) Let’s Get On The Same Page

Once everything has been agreed in a simple commission agreement, the first invoice of a non-refundable deposit (pre-arranged in our initial discussion) is submitted and I can begin bringing your painting to life!

3) Bringing Your Painting To Life

Throughout the project, I don’t wish to leave you in the dark in the process so on the whole a couple emails are usually enough to update you on it’s progress. Once the painting is complete, I’ll send you a final photograph just to make sure you're happy.

4) The Finishing Touches

I, of course, want you to be happy with your artwork, so I include 2 rounds of minor alterations within the proposed quote. This way works to both our advantages in that your commission will be finished in a timely manner and within your budget.

If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with your commission (this has never happened yet!), you may use your deposit as credit in my online store. This means I am able to make the finished painting available for purchase elsewhere.

Upon final approval of your completed commission you’ll recieve the last itemised invoice. Collection or shipping of your final artwork to it’s final destination occurs after payment has been received.
