1. Sharing The Idea Behind The Seascape Painting Commission For A Special Engagement Gift
First off, Natasha got in touch with me to share her mood board of photos taken from the evening her partner proposed on a beach lit by a beautiful sunset.
She didn’t have a single photo that captured the entire scene with the right lighting, as it darkened when the tide came in. Thankfully, we're not limited by photos! I can create the desired colours, light, and atmosphere using a range of images.
The initial stage of communicating and sharing ideas is an enjoyable stage in the process for both parties! It’s an opportunity for me to truly understand your vision, both visually and emotionally, so I can craft a piece that captures the essence of your desired scene.

2. Getting On The Same Page
Not all commissions require thumbnail sketches, but they can be very helpful for visualizing how composition, colors, and focal points will work together when multiple images are being used to inspire the painting.
Thumbnails are very quick sketches I use to help visually explain ideas in our consultation to make sure we are on the same page.
I usually ask for 3-5 paintings of mine that you’d like your painting to be inspired by. It helps with our conversation and gives me an idea of how you’d like your painting painted.

3. The Unveiling
Once a painting commission is complete I send a final photograph to make sure you're happy and we can also discuss framing or any other requirements you might have too!
