Painting Timelapse: "Towards The Light"
‘Towards The Light’, a 60 x 60cm oil on canvas, is a beautiful sky full of purple and golden brushstrokes capturing the light dancing on the clouds above the stormy waves and reflecting on the wet sands and rock pools of the Cornish beach, Perranuthnoe.
Painting Stormy Skies
Although I'm beginning to feel I've painted out my fascination for stormy skies for now, it has done me the world of good over these last months of lockdown in the UK- catching the colours of the light as it rests on the wintery clouds.
TIPPING THE COLOURS OF THE STORM BACK IN YOUR FAVOUR
At some point or another, we all know the feeling of wanting to change the tide of our circumstances. Painting the muted grey tones on the canvas and then slowly laying the colour back into them with a myriad of expressive brushstokes, for me, felt like I was tipping the colours of the storm back in my favour. As quickly as things can turn grey and lifeless, they can glow again - perhaps with even more virtue.
‘Towards The Light’ will be a part of my ‘Hidden Footsteps Through The Sea’ solo exhibition at the Terrace Gallery.
