British Contemporary Art Finalist
‘Paved In Light III’ has been selected for the finals & public vote for the British Contemporary Art Award, my latest oil painting of Cornwall from along the Helford River.
Whenever I need a fresh kick of inspiration a sunset dip in the sea here, off of an outcrop of rock we call our 'secret beach', looking toward Grebe Beach, never fails. I love how you’re suspended in luminous liquid colour as the sky reflects upon the water and the distant hills glow as the light pours through the lofty trees.

This particular night, perched on our rock, the clouds became like a fan of flames reaching far up high into the sky. It was over in minutes. But it's moments like this that I love to capture in brushstrokes.
I’m so grateful (and quite overwhelmed!) by the support and kindness I’ve found online... 1,450 votes for the British Contemporary Art Award! Although I came runner up I feel so blessed by the whole process, conversations, making new connections and reconnecting with others. It’s been completely worth while!
