November News & Highlights

Hello there! With fresh work heading to galleries and an exciting new print to share, the studio has been buzzing. I can’t wait to show you what’s been unfolding behind the scenes—stories, textures, and light coming together on the canvas.

In The Studio

Today my latest small paintings left the studio for Fotheringham Gallery’s Winter Show! I'm thrilled to share them with you - having just editted the photos (and now unwinding with a cuppa catching up on The Lincoln Lawyer!)

I've been captivated by a quote I heard recently, “Your art [or insert what you're passionate about…] only goes as deep as your love goes.”

Our love of something directs our choices and shapes what's most important in our lives. Whatever we do carries the stories and themes of our lives and I find that incredibly special.

As an artist, this love directs the marks, brushstrokes, and color choices I make, allowing me to express what words cannot. Hearing this quote awakened an increasing desire to push the boundaries of emotion and expression in my work. I want to go beyond simply capturing a beautifully lit scene with technical skill (its taken many hours of practice!) but focus now more on increased expression and emotion within the layers of paint and texture.

I am both excited and a little apprehensive about what might happen - these smaller pieces will be a start point for new larger pieces next!
