Art Collector Story : From Cornwall To The US — The Secret Beach
Every painting has a unique story — the ‘Secret Beach’, a magnificent sunset from along the Helford River, has been one of my favourite art collector stories. From its origin at one our best wild swim spots in Cornwall, to getting to know the collector and parcelling her special painting to ship all the way to America. Here’s the story…
ART COLLECTOR & ARTIST
Creating A Connection
Purchased by a lovely American lady I’ve been delighted to get to know, initially through Instagram DM’s and then over email after she joined my Artletter Mailing List, she’d been waiting for just the “right Cornish sunset set with ocean and land” to purchase for her home.
Purchasing art is such personal decision but it can take time. After all it’s an investment and piece you’ll be hopefully living with for years to come that will bring your personality, light and life to your home.
LIKE WHAT YOU SEE…
Why Not Stay In Touch?
Whether a seasoned art collector, or new to purchasing art, many people choose to subscribe to an artist’s mailing list (they’re typically unlike most sales-y mailing lists!). Amongst other reasons, it’s a great way to stay in touch whilst you wait for your right moment.
For Joanne we were both delighted that she found her Cornish sunset in my ‘Water & Horizon Collection’ that launched online in November 2020. I shared a painting a day from the collection alongside videos and insights into my creative process in the hope of bringing a little joy during the UK lockdown.
3 Reasons To Subscribe To An Artist’s Mailing List…
It’s a window into the life of an artist - it’ll differ from artist to artist, but I like to share works in progress & timelapse videos giving you an opportunity to see a piece come together - I know the life of an artist can be mysterious to many!
You’ll be the first to see the newest paintings fresh from the easel - having the opportunity to purchase before they’re made available elsewhere, and first to recieve other studio updates & releases.
It’s simply a way of keeping in touch - whilst you wait for the right time to purchase your piece or, of course, if you just love seeing art and not in the market for purchasing, you’re also welcome!
IT’S IN THE SMALL THINGS
Making It Special
A painting is a special purchase - I like to make sure that everything about it is special from the staying in touch with you about your purchase, offering framing (see the ‘Services’ I offer) to wrapping your painting beautifully. It’s all a part of the creative process and story.
For the ‘Secret Beach’ that needed to make it’s way to Ohio during COVID, and during one of the craziest Christmas rushes the postal services has experienced, the eagerly awaited painting (having needing to track down its whereabouts!) arrived safely in its new forever home with such a delightful story:
